  • Do all vehicles need a pink slip?

In NSW, all vehicles over 5 years old need a pink slip safety inspection to complete annual registration. That means 5 years in total, not 5 years from the date you purchased the vehicle. If your light diesel or petrol vehicle is more than 5 years old, you need a rego e-safety check (pink slip) every year.

  • What happens to my new car warranty with logbook servicing at Riepons?

Your new car warranty will be 100% safe with us. Consumer protection laws give you freedom of choice for who services your car. At Riepons, we stick to your car manufacturer’s recommendations so your logbook services are completed just the same as if your dealer had done them. You’ll get your car back quickly and your service will be less expensive at Riepons.

  • How often should oil be changed?

For most vehicles, oil changes should be done every 6 months or 6,000 km. The average light vehicle only needs an oil change twice per year. You’d need an oil change sooner if you drive under more extreme conditions. Heat and dust would be factors in extreme conditions.

  • Why do I need tyre rotation or wheel alignment?

Tyre rotation is done to counter uneven wear. Front tyres usually wear more quickly than back tyres. So rotating front and back tyres periodically will keep the tyres responsible for steering in the best shape. Rotation will help tyres wear evenly, thereby getting maximum lifespan from your tyres. Wheel alignment is needed any time a tyre is moved. This will help prevent the car pulling to one side or another and avoid vibration while driving.

  • What is logbook servicing? Is it different from regular servicing?

Logbook servicing means servicing a vehicle according to the manufacturer’s specifications. The logbook recommends scheduled servicing and details when certain parts need to be checked, serviced, or replaced. Following the logbook to the letter keeps your new car warranty intact and your car can be expected to operate optimally.

Regular servicing involves routine maintenance, such as oil and fluid changes, spark plug replacement, filter changes, and the like. It’s based on industry standards, rather than the specific manufacturer’s recommendations.

  • Does my car really need to be tuned?

Every vehicle, even new cars, can benefit from diagnostics and tuning. Tuning will help petrol and diesel vehicles operate at peak efficiency. It will improve overall performance and give you better results. Performance tuning can extract superior engine performance which, combined with brake and suspension tweaks, would allow your vehicle to compete on track or off-road.
